In the job market of the 21st century, there is a greater emphasis on the practical value of education and the importance of developing relevant skills and experience, and there is no inherent difference in the quality of education between a 2-year and 4-year degree, especially in programs such as business or marketing where the coursework may be comparable at both levels.

This is me, my name is Olivia Brown, and I am a professor and program chair with over 20 years of experience teaching marketing and business management. I have witnessed all types of students, from those who achieve A’s to those who struggle until their last semester and ultimately drop out.
These experiences have given me a more profound appreciation for the challenges that today’s students face, such as limited resources, personal issues, mental health concerns, or simply being in school as a stopgap solution to satisfy parental pressure to continue their education.
I consider myself a forward-thinking and innovative educator. As a veteran educator and keen observer of the changing nature of education and the workforce, I see the need for continuous learning as well as the need to upskill and adapt to changing circumstances. I can count on my students to be adaptable, but I am not ? I must model the behavior.
